We have endeavored to create a program that links in closely with Western Australia’s curriculum; our interactive learning experiences connect students with nature and encourage them to take constructive action toward conservation and the environment.

Africa has it's Big Five

Originally used only by hunters, the term 'Big Five' refers to five of Africa's greatest wild animals. The lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. The term "Big Five" still conjure up the fear and excitement of expereincing Africa.

But Australia is in a league of it's own with it's cute and cuddle five and many would boast they are the some of the most magnificent animals in the world. Many of our Australian spcies cannot be found any where else in the world and we are the only place where you can find the group of animals called marsupials (having a pouch for carrying the immature young). Did you know that a group of Kangaroos is called a mob. A young Kangaroo is called a Joey and that Emus and kangaroos cannot walk backwards.

To the Principal and Teachers

We are pleased keep you up to date with our New EDUcation Newsletter.

In keeping with the theme of Australian Animal, Marapana can now offer one of the best venues to get up close and personal with all the animal the students will be studying this semester.

We considered it a privilege to partner with the schools and working with you to improve the education and conservation of our incredible Australian wildlife. We have been overwhelmed at the excellent standard of behavior the many children have exhibited as they have eagerly participated in the education packs.

Although our Edu packs are aim mainly at years 1-3 and years 4-7 in the primary school. For our high schools student we are able to provide both voluntary community service participation and the structured workplace learning and volunteer positions for an interactive opportunity to get first hand experience with caring for our birds, reptiles and animals.

Our main initiatives in our education packs are specifically for primary aged children and this is proving to be extremely popular especially with much of the education outcomes focusing on Australian animals. We are also able to include many farm animals.

Our worksheets are designed to inform students about the unique wildlife found throughout Australia, focusing mainly on the Koalas, Dingoes and Reptiles and the environmental challenges they face. The majority of these worksheets will be more beneficial to those students who are able to come to Marapana Wildlife Park and have a hands-on experience with our tour guides.
